We’ll tell you straight away, we too have been fooled by Jacques Monneraud‘s vases. At first, scrolling through his Instagram feed there was no doubt, his creations are made of cardboard. Then we saw a video of a jug with water in it and something didn’t quite fit. Now, studying Monneraud’s work, everything is clearer. These are pottery works but with a cardboard effect. In a way, the designer plays on this dualism between fragility and resistance, alluding to the Japanese Kintsugi technique of repairing broken pottery with gold. He does this in a fake way with adhesive tape, although in reality the illusion is layered. What look like assembled pieces are instead part of a single piece handcrafted by the French designer on a lathe. Jacques Monneraud has just participated in Paris Design Week and the public literally went crazy over his creations, what do you think?
