Some of our daily feelings are difficult to explain in words. When we feel calm, resigned, sad or desperate, we don’t necessarily use a definition to describe how we feel, we simply live it.
The drawings by Liberty Ewan, in art orangejuicefordinner, seem to originate from these considerations and are, to all intents and purposes, an illustrated representation of everyone’s thoughts.
Liberty Ewan is originally from Southampton – a town in the south-east of the UK -, she is a young girl, an emerging illustrator and an artist capable of putting a universal face on emotions. Her illustrations are glimpses of reality, recounting everyday encounters, joys, sorrows, pleasures and sorrows of life in which everyone can identify.
The protagonists of her cartoons are likeable, colourful, funny and positive figures. Liberty places no limits on the viewer’s identification and always gives a different face to the character she draws, allowing everyone to recognise themselves in the scene.
For orangejuicefordinner it doesn’t matter if you don’t know what you’re doing, if you don’t want to do anything or if you just want to sit on a rug and listen to music and have a drink, you will always find someone who thinks exactly like you.
