Jonathan Burton is an English illustrator based in France that I discovered by chance a few days ago, thanks to a link published by Laurent Durieux.
His graphic approach combines with a modern and often evocative sensibility, a past era or a ‘retro future’ and contemporary illustration and technique.
Victorian-inspired subjects and characters, often rich and vibrant colors, formal and theatrical compositions. His illustrations always capture a “narrative moment”, varying in style but almost always retaining a vintage taste and an ironic smile.
Jonathan Burton has been recognized by American Illustration, Communication Arts and has won several awards, from the Association of Illustrators to the Silver Medal of the Society of Illustrators.
