Fear, anxiety, loneliness, serenity, passion, fatigue, joy, are all moods that each of us has experienced at least once in our lives, but in common they also have the characteristic of being difficult to describe. Words never seem to be enough to describe a feeling or an emotion that lives inside us. Mikyung Lee decided to represent all these feelings without using words, but just with the help of images.

Mikyung Lee is a young freelance illustrator who lives and works in Seoul. Her clients include names like Google, Penguin Random House, The Guardian, The New Yorker, NBC News, Today, NPR, Instagram, Playboy, The New York Times, Naver, BuzzFeed, Airbnb, Snapchat, Medium and many others.
It is precisely her ability to condense an entire universe of emotions into a single illustration that is really surprising to the viewer. Mikyung Lee’s works are works in which the color palette blends with the subject, so if the drawing represents fear or anxiety, the tones are gloomy and the dark blue and black shades are the masters, while the softer, pastel shades are used to represent moments of relaxation and carefreeness.
