Milano is ready for the Milano Design Week 2019. Becoming important as Fashion Week, this event obtains more and more popularity every year.  From Monday 8 to Sunday 14 April the city will be invaded by insiders and curious people from all over the world. Not only the 58th edition of the Salone del Mobile but also the very large program of Fuorisalone, a very popular format of collateral events in collaboration with the fair event: courtyards, palaces, showrooms, public spaces will be host installations, exhibitions and much more. Here’s the selection of 6 MUST-SEE of the MDW 2019

Planetario by Cristina Celestino

Planetario is an interior project conceived and realized by Cristina Celestino for Besana Carpet Lab that will be presented at the Brera Design Apartment during the Milan Design Week. The designer based in Milan customs the domestic scenario inspired by the themes of space and its antithesis, the underwater world.

Spazio Maiocchi

Then there is Spazio Maiocchi. Contemporary art magazine and creative studio KALEIDOSCOPE  presents three projects eloquent to its unique interdisciplinary position at the intersection of art, design, and fashion: RIMOWA x KALEIDOSCOPE present Guillermo Santomà, GOOGLE presents A Space For Being, ARTIFACT presents Gonzalez-Haase – Display For Ideas.

Uniformity by John Pawson

The British architect John Pawson transformed the Valextra flagship store in via Manzoni, Milan, in a sort of museum. Valextra is an amazing space made by a traditional Milanese stone ceppo di gré. Pawson worked on the interpretation of the store based on his architectural philosophy: the minimal, clean elegance and restrained luxury of its minimalism with the designer’s own philosophy of space.

Temporary Museum by Space Encounters

The Dutch studio Space Encounters designed a temporary museum for the courtyard of Palazzo Clerici.  The installation is made to combine room for art and design, with atmospheres that promote relaxation, contemplation and focus amidst the pace of the Salone di Mobile. The Museum was designed as a journey through different spaces in which visitors constantly interact with Dutch creativity.

Formafantasma x DZEK

The famous Italian duo based in Amsterdam made for DZEK a new collection of volcanic-ash-glazed tiles for architectural surfaces inspired by Monte Etna. ExCinere is a refined collection of volcanic ash-glazed tiles suitable for both interior and exterior surfaces.

Nonostantemarras with Kiasmo

Nonostantemarras by Antonio Marras in one of the coolest hotspot in town and the top seller for the famous designer’s creations. In collaboration with KIASMO and his designer Vincenzo D’Alba they made a wunderkammer of over 300 handmade ceramics and exhibited in its space. A real beautiful madness.
