Naples Through the Lens of Glauco Canalis for Mizuno’s Latest Campaign

Sometimes football steps outside the stadium and keeps living elsewhere: in courtyards and city squares where all you need is a ball to play. It’s exactly within this imagery that the Japanese brand Mizuno stages the return of the Wave Prophecy Morelia Neo in a new silver version—a silhouette that brings together football heritage and contemporary aesthetics. And the campaign, shot by Glauco Canalis, manages to blend all these elements.

Mizuno

The project comes from the meeting of two pillars of the brand. On one side, the Morelia—one of Mizuno’s most iconic football boots—introduced in the 1980s and, over the years, remaining a symbol of craftsmanship and precision. On the other, the Wave Prophecy, the running line recognizable for its technical structure and its signature Infinity Wave sole. The Wave Prophecy Morelia Neo merges these two worlds: the upper borrows the proportions and details typical of football boots, while the technical base comes directly from the Prophecy’s futuristic architecture.

Mizuno

After the first chapter tied to the Morelia’s fortieth anniversary, the new release pushes the visual impact even further with an all-silver colorway. The metallic finish emphasizes the sneaker’s hybrid nature, where references to the pitch sit alongside a decidedly more urban aesthetic.

Mizuno

The campaign accompanying the launch is set in Naples, chosen as a symbol of a football culture lived every day in the streets. The story revolves around a simple gesture: a father gives his daughter a pair of Wave Prophecy Morelia Neo, asking her to take care of them. But the shoes don’t stay pristine—they become part of everyday life, move through the city, and go along with runs, meet-ups, and spontaneous kickabouts.

Mizuno

Through these images, Mizuno builds a narrative about legacy, passion, and new generations. “Hope in the Youth” isn’t just the campaign’s title—it’s the way the brand tries to frame football as something that goes beyond the pitch: a cultural language that keeps reinventing itself, passed from hand to hand, from one generation to the next.
