Erste Group, as every year, has decided to give us its Christmas tearjerker spot and this time again it has surpassed each other.
In past years we have been enchanted by Enrico the porcupine and Hanna Bumblebee. For 2020, the protagonists are Edgar and Marie, a sad old man and a kind carer in a nursing home.
“Loneliness and isolation have been the defining themes of this pandemic year,” says Martin Radjaby-Rasset from Erste. “Unfortunately, that is likely to remain true for most people also during the Christmas season, when we would usually get a chance to be close to our family and friends. We wanted to show what’s possible when people are there for each other and when they believe in themselves and others, especially in these times.”
A moving and important spot for Christmas, but above all a delicate theme for these exceptional times: being there for each other, despite everything.
Marie, the nice caregiver does not want to accept that the elderly composer Edgar is closing in on himself as his condition worsens. For a pianist, hearing is fundamental, and the elderly person experiences this situation badly. But together with the other residents of the nursing home, Marie manages to cheer him up and make him enjoy the Christmas holidays in the right spirit.
The commercial was directed as every year by Kyra & Constantin and produced by Passion who, as always, has been able to get us excited despite everything.
