Paris Couture Week 2020 will run in July and will be digital

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has stated that Paris Couture Week will run from July 6 to 18 but for the first time, it will be in a digital version, as it has been programmed for the men’s collections. The dedicated online platform will focus on videos and films through which each fashion house can present its collections.

There will be an additional possibility to enrich your presentation by inserting additional content in an ad hoc section of the platform.
Of course, the Federation will use the help of several hi-tech partners to maximize the scope of the event but they have not yet been formalized.

However, the difficulties of the moment led brand movements to postpone the July releases: the presentation of the collaboration between Chitose Abe from sacai and Jean Paul Gaultier‘s Maison was planned, after the French designer’s retirement in January, which was postponed until the beginning of next year. Balenciaga, which would return to the couture calendar after 52 years of absence, moved the launch of haute couture to January 2021.

Giorgio Armani has already made it known that the Armani Privé fashion show will not be held in Paris, where the designer had presented his couture collections in recent years, but in Milan, his city and precisely at Palazzo Orsini in Via Borgonuovo. The collection will have no seasonality and will be composed of both winter and summer.

Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Director of Valentino, has let it be known that he is working on a special project but it is not yet clear if it will be presented in Paris or not.

The choice of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode goes hand in hand with that taken a short time ago by the British Fashion Council in London and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana prefiguring a trend that seems to be the best solution to face the complex situation that the fashion world, but not only, is facing.
