Popcicle is the excellence symbol of summer, and therefore of cheerfulness and carefree.
But what it contains, dirty water of algae, waste, plastic and insects, embodies perfectly all those environmentally damaging issues that we underestimate as innocuous.
The students of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Taiwan have devised an alterative way to talk about a silent, and too often overlooked, world problem: water pollution.
The project is titled Polluted Water Popsicles and, to realize it, the three young artists Hung I-chen, Guo Yi-hui and Cheng Yu-ti have taken samples of polluted water from 100 different locations in Taiwan, freezing them into special popcicle molds.
