Ralph Lauren loves vintage pieces… His own

While we’re witnessing a slow comeback of the aesthetic that defined the early 2000s, most of us are still enchanted by the fashion of the two preceding decades. The ’80s and ’90s continue to inspire dreams in every realm, whether it’s music, cinema, or, of course, fashion.
In the fashion world, this revival can be attributed partly to the natural lifecycle of trends, which rise, peak, fade, and then magically return. On the other hand, it reflects a growing awareness among consumers—especially younger ones—who increasingly prefer to shop at vintage stores or through resale apps. These methods breathe new life into forgotten pieces and styles, showing us how items we might find in our parents’ or grandparents’ closets are no longer out of style. In fact, they might feel more relevant than the latest addition from yet another multinational retailer.
But what if brands themselves reopened their archives and brought back their own vintage treasures? That’s exactly what Ralph Lauren has done.

For a few days now, the brand’s US website has featured a selection of over 300 pieces straight from the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s. Perfectly timed for the winter season, this collection includes gems like the 1992 Ski Jacket, adorned with the famous illustration of a skier mid-air during a jump. Another iconic graphic appears on the 1989 Downhill Skier Jacket, depicting the white silhouette of a skier speeding down a steep slope, head down, poles tucked under their arms.

The collection also includes sweaters, skirts, wool tops, shirts, and jackets. Accessories are well-represented too, with belts, shoes, and the timeless baseball caps making an appearance.

In short, with the reminder that “Since 1967, we’ve created pieces that get better with age – that stand the test of the time”, Ralph Lauren has demonstrated a deep passion for vintage clothing—his own.
