We are accustomed to IKEA collaborations with international companies or artists and professionals, but with its latest partner, the Swedish company aims to the stars. With RUMTID, IKEA announced a collaboration with NASA’s Mars Desert Research Station that, in the middle of the Utah desert, has the task of reproducing the living conditions on Mars during a space expedition.

The RUMTID collection will take into consideration the problems related to urbanization and living in small spaces, offering four different product ranges that focus on issues of time, space, water and air. There will also be four outputs of limited edition products and the first is scheduled for 2020. RUMTID includes an air purifier, innovative lighting solutions, a modular, block-based furniture system and objects made of recycled wood and waste.
