Behind the Instagram profile @solar_fenice is Davide Lazzoni, a Genoese visual designer known for his collaborations with Fedez and ThaSup. His animated and non-animated illustrations have reached Italian rappers who have chosen him to create animated visuals for their songs. Think of the song ‘Come ti vorrei’ by ThaSup or ‘Le madri degli altri’ by Fedez and Tananai. In short, Solar Fenice’s style is quite unmistakable. Cartoony characters that look like they are made out of Play-Doh come to life in imaginary worlds that are sometimes completely surreal and other times very close to reality. In some cases, these characters speak of Davide himself, of his life and his condition in a wheelchair that creates quite a few impediments for him. We are curious how his style will evolve, between graphic design, motion graphics and 3D – maybe this master will unlock Solar Fenice’s other skills and we will see him in more rapper teasers?
