LeiKiè wrote and directed PAPmusic – Animation for Fashion, the first full CGI 3D animated feature film by Not Just Music. We haven’t seen it yet, but after watching the trailer, we were immediately intrigued. The aesthetic of the film seems to have a unique character, with vibes reminiscent of Barbie Life in The Dreamhouse, transported into a fashion ecosystem with a view of the Duomo. Let’s take a look at what it’s about.

The Plot of PAPmusic – Animation for Fashion
The Italian fashion house PAPmusic, made up of a young and eclectic team, is focused on launching a new collection. This feature film appears to have the essentials for a well-done office drama: workplace personality clashes, flirtations, and a few twists. HE and SHE are at the center of these dynamics, one being the commercial director and the other a designer at PAPMusic. There’s also music and humor that—at first glance—reminds us of early 2000s cartoons and, at times, even The Sims.

At the Venice Film Festival, PAPmusic also won the Cinema and Industry Award in the Producer & Director category, and the production company behind the project is the independent Not Just Music. In the press release announcing PAPMusic’s debut at Milan Fashion Week (with an apparently super-exclusive party at Plastic), it is stated that the feature film aims to be “an immersive experience that brings together talents from various sectors of Italian entertainment.” Among the voice actors are notable figures such as Luca Ward—who also dubbed Gladiator and James Bond—Rudy Zerbi, Marco Mazzoli, and the film’s director LeiKiè herself, alongside Jake La Furia and Tamara Donà.

PAPmusic – Animation for Fashion is set to be released in all Italian cinemas from September 26.
