The monochromatic figures created by the New Zealand artist Gina Kiel are the main protagonists of her murals. With a childhood full of music, nature, Disney films and hours of drawing, Gina became an illustrator after working in an animation company, where she discovered her love for drawing.

Her imagination is influenced by pop aesthetics and by the 1970s, which tended to be psychedelic, as can be easily deduced from her profile Instagram.

The designs are made against a bright blue background, which blends the colours of New Zealand’s sunny skies with the surrounding sea. The realism of the figures is played down by the trails composed of bright colors, which give great materiality to the various subjects.

Gina knows how to create feminine images, but at the same time of impact, that exude sensuality and explore the human experience through the concepts of life, death, spirituality and pop culture.
