If the name Shoichi Aoki doesn’t tell you anything, then I suggest you take a look here, where the extraordinary Japanese street fashion photographer has made one of his most influential and avant-garde creatures, the zine STREET magazine, available as an eBook.

Born in Tokyo in 1955, he started his work in the mid 80’s documenting the evolution of streetstyle of young Tokyo boys (also thanks to his other editorial creature FRUiTS magazine), instead of following American and European trends, customized the classic items of Japanese tradition such as kimonos, obi sashes and geta sandals and combined them with handmade, vintage and design fashion in a new approach focused on customization.

Aoki went even further, dedicating entire numbers to cities such as London, Paris and New York, to Vivienne Westwood’s fashion shows and those of Jean Paul Gaultier, to the style of nightclubbers and ravers, ending with punk rockers.

STREET magazine eBooks are available online and can be purchased in sets of 10 for $30 and for $278 you can take home all 100 issues published.
