On the occasion of the Trekanfest 2020, the architecture studio Behind ha’s has realized a colorful and particular installation entitled “Together apart”. A work created to redevelop the artPark, maintained by the Pomerene Center as a way to involve the community in an otherwise degraded site.
The installation of the American studio is composed of 400 orange ribbons that extend between the lines of the roof of the building and the ground, along a wavy line that curves on itself.
The assembly procedure was intentionally made simple so that the community could be involved in the assembly.

The fabric used is a waste material from Snyder Manufacturing in nearby Dover, Ohio. When wide rolls of fabric leave the Snyder Manufacturing production line, the two ends of them are cut to provide straight edges. The cut-outs, which are normally recycled on the assembly line, were used in the installation and are returned to Snyder at the end of the summer to be recycled in their manufacturing process.
“Together apart”, was influenced by Behin ha’s reflections on the nature of social aggregation during the 2020 pandemic.
“Reflecting on the conflict between the human desire to come together on the one hand, and the epidemiological need to maintain distance on the other, the installations try to capture the tension between coming together and staying apart by creating multiple interconnected but identified and isolated spaces.“
