Malik Thomas and his hyper-detailed prints

Each object has its own story and, often and willingly, this story is made of strokes of genius, extraordinary people, mistakes, absurd experiments, randomness. For example, behind a sneaker like the Air Max, there are dozens and dozens of anecdotes linked to as many people, from Tinker Hatfield to Michael Jordan.
Discovering how objects that we use every day are born is always interesting, but it can also become fun if you do it through images or graphics like those of Malik Thomas.

Malik Thomas is an English designer who, for Dorothy studio, has made several prints that, in a brilliant and original way, tell different stories.
The series of posters is called Inside Information and, in practice, Malik Thomas starts from a common object, like an Air Max, dissects it and reveals its interior, where all the elements and characters that make up its story coexist.

In an old camera, we find the characters of Star Wars, King Kong hanging on one side, Harry Potter whizzing on the broom, all illuminated by Méliès’ moon. And again, inside an old Vox AC30, we find the Beatles doing a concert, in the company of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and many others.

The graphics of Malik Thomas are hyper-detailed enough to stay and study them in-depth for hours.
