To honor the seven finalists of the International Woolmark Prize 2022, FKA twigs directs and stars in PLAYSCAPE, a short film just over 5 minutes long that celebrates the art of “play”.
The film, choreographed by Juliano Nunes, features looks from the competition’s finalist collections: Ahluwalia, EGONLAB, Jordan Dalah, MMUSOMAXWELL, Peter Do, RUI and Saul Nash.
The International Woolmark Prize 2022 focuses on the theme of play as a mode of creative exploration. PLAYSCAPE includes a film, an immersive showroom and a special partnership with the Isamu Noguchi Foundation and the Garden Museum.
Isamu Noguchi was one of the most important and acclaimed sculptors of the 20th century. Beginning in the 1930s, Noguchi conceived of “playscapes” that offered physical and social interaction, whereby the public could interact directly with the sculptures in ways technically impossible in a museum.
FKA twigs has developed and explored the concept of “pure play” through creativity, as a method in which the purest expression has a space to be born and happy accidents are embraced and exalted.
PLAYSCAPE, was inspired by Noguchi’s vision of play as a creative catalyst and brings together the influence of fashion, art, dance and music.
The winner of the International Woolmark Prize 2022 will be announced on April 26, 2022.
