Nike has always communicated through concepts that reject the toxic competition and constraints faced by artists and athletes. In recent years Travis Scott and Drake have been just some of the names chosen by Nike for its campaigns, to which is added Megan Thee Stallion, the face of the new “Play New” campaign spot.
In the video, the Houston rapper begins by opening a book, humorously recounting the difficulties in emerging as an athlete and artist, before becoming one and the other. “Dance is my sport, performing is my sport. Rap is my sport. And if you think that doesn’t require work, effort and sweat, you’re wrong”.
We’ll most likely see a collaboration between Megan Thee Stallion and the Beaverton-based brand soon, after hearing her smash Tik Tok with “Savage” and seeing her most recently in AMBUSH’s new Olympics campaign, also with Nike.
