“Morning” is a stop motion animated short film by Vojtěch Domlátil – an independent Czech filmmaker, animator, illustrator, graphic designer and professor. It is an experimental work that investigates the poetic aspects of storytelling, the anti-narrative possibilities of stop motion animation and is a work that offers a moment of quiet and reflection from the chaos of contemporary life.
“Morning. Coffee. Breakfast. Shower. And then? Trip outside? Or trip inside?”
With delicate, light, ever-changing strokes and the cadenced rhythm of the breath, we immerse ourselves in a controlled meditation. A few minutes, which we wish would never pass, help us to face a new day and give meaning to our existence.
If you are not used to meditation, or if you are simply not familiar with its mechanisms, this short film will probably seem a little strange and almost overwhelming. In our opinion, however, “Morning” can be a good opportunity to stop, slow down and let the world go by. Watch it here.
