UNIQLO presented its new program dedicated to sustainability called Re.UNIQLO.
This initiative aims to contribute to the reduction of global CO2 emissions, through the recycling of materials from old UNIQLO and GU garments by giving them a new life, producing new raw materials and reusing old clothes by giving them to those who need them most, as well as a drastic reduction in the use of plastic that the company has been carrying out long ago.
The collection of old clothes began 14 years ago, in 2006, and if we think that in the last six months of last year the company collected 620,000 down jackets, it is easy to understand the enormous scale of the operation.
Thanks to the technology developed by the Toray textile company, the comforter and its feathers are automatically separated before being renewed and used for the new products.
The first item of the Re.UNIQLO program is a unisex V-neck down jacket, made of 100% recycled materials, and will be available in four different colors in 67 stores in 22 countries and online from November 2nd, for 65 euros.
