Villa Cardo is a quiet summer retreat located in Carovigno, in the province of Brindisi. Like the “sisters”, Masseria Moroseta or Villa Castelluccio, this villa in Salento is a white block, overlooking a swimming pool with panoramic views of the Apulian countryside. It is clear that the inspiration comes from the Trulli and the classic local houses. The architect Andrew Trotter, director of Openhouse Magazine and Barcelona studio of the same name, loves these areas and is the architect who designed all three residences, which are shown in the Mediterranean landscape with their white silhouettes, of ancient inspiration, in contrast with the earth kissed by the sun.
Villa Cardo was built with traditional methods, keeping the building airy and cool in summer. The construction is within a one-hectare plot on which are grown olive trees, almond trees and from the roof terrace you can enjoy a fantastic sea view.
The house consists of a large living room with dining room, 4 bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms. One of them is a double bedroom with an attached bathroom, where you can enjoy a bathtub and twin shower. The master bedroom has its own veranda, with outside bathroom and private garden with outside shower. The other two bedrooms – one with a double bed and one with two single beds – can also be used as a small living area. They have a shared bathroom. On the lower floor there is a TV room and to relax a Turkish bath with outdoor shower.
In addition to the main villa, there is an old country house “lamia”, which can accommodate two more people. Around the pool, there is a sort of outbuilding with outdoor kitchen, barbecue and wood-burning oven, dining terrace, outdoor sofa, and sun loungers.
The other two bedrooms, which can be used as a small living area, are connected by a shared bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed, while the other has two single beds. A TV room is located on the lower floor with bathroom and Turkish bath with outdoor shower. Complementing the main house, the guest house can accommodate two people. Outside there is a kitchen with a grill and wood-burning oven, dining terrace, outdoor sofa and sun loungers around the pool.
The beautiful Nature Reserve of Torre Guaceto which is the nearest beach and is about 7 km away, Ostuni and the airport of Brindisi are 15 minutes by car and an hour from the airport of Bari.
Villa Cardo is available for rent through Moroseta Villas.
