#WeThe15, the global campaign for people with disabilities

Giulia Guido

On the occasion of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, the International Paralympic Committee and the International Disability Alliance commissioned a short film for the #WeThe15 global campaign

The campaign advocates for all people with disabilities who represent 15% of the world’s population, over 1 billion people, making them the largest group of marginalised people in the world.

To mark the launch of the event five days ago, a one-minute commercial was published on the Paralympic Games’ YouTube account, playfully showing what everyday life is really like for people with disabilities. The same spot will be broadcast today during the opening ceremony of the Paralympics.

On the occasion of the launch, more than 115 sites and monuments around the world were lit up in purple, the official colour of #WeThe15, including the Colosseum and the sites that will host the 2026 Winter Games such as the Town Hall in Cortina d’Ampezzo and in Milan Palazzo Lombardia, Palazzo Pirelli, Palazzo Marino and the Allianz Tower.
