Tired of the minimalist, clean design of recent years? Then follow the Instagram profile A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour to get your daily dose of kitsch.
A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour is the brainchild of Margaret Bienert and her husband Corey, a California couple who have created this project through which we discover, together with them, the most unique and eccentric themed hotels in America.

From the Cove Haven Resort in Lakeville with its champagne glass-shaped bathtub, to The Anniversary Inn in Salt Lake City with its “Venice” themed suite, up to Greenwood, Indiana, where at the Red Carpet Inn & FantaSuites you can sleep in a candy pink Cadillac.
The origin of themed suites dates back to around 1840 when the bridal rooms on Mississippi steamboats were furnished and decorated in such a way as to make young girls feel at ease on their wedding night. Over time, thanks also to the luxurious Hollywood aesthetic that exploded in the first half of the 20th century, themed hotels became a real must and today you can still find all kinds of them scattered all over America.
On the profile of A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour, we are catapulted into a surreal world, where the hotel rooms look like movie sets, while on their YouTube channel, Margaret and Corey tell all the backstage, the little things that you have to get used to, for example, the not always perfect cleanliness.
As Margaret says, the goal of these places is to offer an unusual stay, where you feel like the protagonists of a dreamlike and almost psychedelic story. Cars, shells, gondolas turned into beds, absurdly shaped bathtubs, ceilings covered with mirrors: it’s all too much to be fascinating and, in its own way, perfect.
