All for the Gram – Nord Est Tropicale

It’s the fault of climate change, someone says, or some nostalgic alderman of summer, particularly that last vacation to Miami that he just won’t get out of his head. So why not, let’s turn the most anonymous small town on the Italian plains into a tropical resort. A few key elements are needed, and after a brief brainstorming session the alderman himself comes up with the solution: plant palm trees, just a stone’s throw from the Alps, genius!
Nord Est Tropicale is this week’s chosen profile for All for the Gram, a collection of tropical plants that in many cases would have no reason to be where they are but turn Italy’s Northeast into a tropical location, confusing tourists and pro-loco.

There are palms on balconies and others on top of boats navigating the Grand Canal in Venice, the flora of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia is truly unpredictable. The Nord Est Tropicale project was also collected in a photo book published last September, becoming a kind of botanical atlas of the absurd of a beautiful part of Italy.
The photos are fun, and having known this profile might help you on the next vacation you book this summer. Convinced you have seen photos of a house in Miami (the same as the homesick alderman) it may actually be a residence in the province of Pordenone.
