“The night conceals the defects and is indulgent with all the imperfections; at that time every woman looks beautiful,” said Ovid, a truth that becomes concrete within the Toilet Club of Milan, a real night reference point for the LGBTQ+ community in the city. A place that, like an island, is detached from everything that surrounds it, unique in its form, where everyone has always been able to express themselves in a free and emancipated way. 

The small universe of the Toilet Club has ended up for over two years in the sights of Valentina Neri, photographer of the stable of Cesura Lab. From 2014 to 2016 Valentina has immortalized in her shots that world that lives at night, where the master is the Drag Queen. Then, in 2018 his photographic material becomes a book, published by Cesura Publisher, in which the images are accompanied by sentences, titles, illustrations, quotations, any element that fits the description of this reality. 

Today, we return to talk about it at the presentation of his Almanacco Toilet Club, which will take place Saturday, June 22, from 17:00 to 23:00 in Milan. For her last work, Valentina has dared, and not a little. She was inspired by “Scena illustrata“, a monthly magazine from the 80’s characterized by an ironic and direct style, but also by a volume from the early 40’s, in which stands out a layout and a fascist language, all to tell a completely different world, opposite and far from that of eighty years ago.
