Amazon’s spiral-shaped headquarters in Virginia

Amazon has officially unveiled its latest project, “Helix” a spiral-shaped headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
A long-term investment that will create about 25,000 jobs and have the company invest $2.5 billion in Arlington over the next decade.

Designed by NBBJ the 22-story building expects to be started by 2022, is designed to promote collaboration and constant interaction with nature.

But the project doesn’t just stop there, in addition to the beautiful spiral building featuring two walkable paths, outside there will be various green spaces open not only to employees but also to the local community.
In the 2.5 acres available outside, in addition to a huge public park, Amazon plans to build an amphitheater for concerts and restaurants.

In addition, a beautiful initiative is already in the works at Helix, which is to host an artist-in-residence program with local creatives, encouraging employees to collaborate.

Of course, as you might imagine, it will be an environmentally friendly building, aligning with the company’s policies to be carbon neutral by 2040. In addition to being designed to be LEED Platinum, the buildings aim to run on 100% renewable energy.
The parking lot will feature electric stations to recharge their vehicles and a parking lot for approximately 1,000 bicycles, directly connected to the bike path.

A futuristic project that looks to the future but also aims to integrate with the community, in full compliance with environmental rules.
Even if now Amazon’s employees are almost all in smart working, in a few years they will be able to enjoy an out of the ordinary, state-of-the-art building.
