Angelo Baque and Champion collaborate once again, and from this reunion comes a capsule collection that aims to be a fusion of Latin American heritage and athleisure. Inspired by the fabrics of the Quechua people of Ecuador and the Inca traditions of Peru, the collection celebrates indigenous artisanal techniques passed down through generations. «This collaboration is important to me because it celebrates my Ecuadorian heritage and the indigenous cultures of Latin America,» says Angelo Baque, founder of Awake New York.

From contemporary knitwear to bold prints, the capsule perfectly blends Champion’s historical legacy in sportswear with Baque’s innovative approach, deeply rooted in his Ecuadorian heritage and influenced by the broader indigenous cultures of Latin America.
After the success of Senior Thesis in 2022, Baque and Champion return with a second collection, available here. The capsule combines Champion’s sporting heritage with Baque’s innovative design, reinterpreting garments like the bolero and the cardigan with jacquard patterns inspired by Quechua and Inca cultures.

Baque continues: «This project goes beyond clothing; it’s a way to honor my culture and tell different stories». Jay Escobara of Champion adds: «We’ve worked hard to merge culture and community in this collection».

The new collaboration is already available at Dover Street Market Ginza, Awake New York, and online at championstore.com and awake.com.
