Since the beginning of the pandemic caused by Covid-19 one thing has been clear, keeping a distance from each other is one way to avoid contagion.
This has created a climate of distrust, fear and, above all, it has put our attitude of wanting to socialize on pause.
That’s why Studio 212 Fahrenheit, in collaboration with buro bordo, has created “Benched”, the perfect bench for a society forced to live one and a half meters away.
The bench, two and a half meters long, is characterized by a completely transparent central part that symbolizes the safety distance, in this way, only the two side seats remain visible.
With Benched the two studios wanted to create an object that would help people to have more lasting encounters both between family members and strangers, without being afraid.
The transparency chosen to signal the meter and a half, in fact, is nothing more than a way to emphasize how this distance, however important, should remain invisible between people.
A poetic representation of our present.
