Throughout the year we have marked our weeks with a selection of animated short films that we have proposed in the morning. Now it’s time to review the most beautiful, those that have made us excited only as the animation knows how to do.
Forget Me Not
The short film made by The Animation Workshop students teaches us that sometimes loving someone means understanding when it’s time to let them go and face that fear that pervades us when we think about life without them.
My Father’s Room
Abuse and violence mark people’s lives indelibly. In this short film, director Nari Jang recounts her personal experience through a series of beautiful pencil sketches.
Out of Range
The short film made by the students of the French school Gobelins represents how many times we remain stuck in what we do and we do not pay attention to who we are becoming and who we are.
The Doodles Diary
This short film is the brainchild of Disney designer Gary Andrews and the idea of telling his story, his marriage, and his wife’s untimely death through scribbles, or rather, to be precise through one doodle a day.
Best Friend
With this work, we arrive in a distant future, where the problem of loneliness seems to have been solved with a device that transports the mind into an imaginary world, where you are surrounded by friends.
Negative Space
The relationship between father and son is the central theme of this animated short film that won an Oscar nomination in 2018. In Negative space, this special relationship seems to be based on a rather sad event, namely the preparation of the father’s suitcase every time he had to leave home.
Animals
This short film shows us the terrifying transformation that men undergo when they are led to exasperation, coming to resemble more and more animals.
The Ostrich Politic
We continue with another work by the students of the Gobelins school that, without too many words, shows us how the current political situation really is, comparing us to ostriches that follow their leader undaunted, continuing to keep their heads under the ground.
Dynamite Dance
We put Dynamite Dance in this shortlist because after decades the Looney Tunes have returned to the small screen. In particular, the protagonists are Bugs Bunny and Taddeo who, as always, spend their time chasing each other.
Egg McMuffin
We end up with a short that will make your mouth water and if you love “most satisfying videos” you will love it. This, in particular, shows how, according to a graph, the composition of a McDonald’s sandwich would happen.
