The death of George Floyd on May 25th in Minneapolis, Minnesota, caused by the violence of police officer Derek Chauvin and three other Minneapolis police officers during an arrest against him, triggered a series of protests and demonstrations across the United States against the abuse of power and racial hatred perpetrated by police forces on several occasions.

Brain Dead and its founder Kyle Ng collaborated with English singer and producer Devonté Hynes aka Blood Orange to raise funds and raise awareness of the difficult situation that minorities live in every city in the United States of America on a daily basis.

The result of this collaboration is a special T-shirt available in pre-order for 48 hours online on the Brain Dead website, the entire proceeds will be donated between The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) and the LGBTQ Freedom Fund.

“I’ve been angry and distraught about the world. Thinking about what more I can do, I have donated as much as I can to organizations, I’ve protested with friends, I’ve tried to take in as much information as I can, then share it with as many people as I can. I want to do more, responses have to be in real time. I will also post the links in my stories to the funds so you can just donate directly. I am still thinking about other means and trying to strategize. This is not the beginning or the end.
I am nothing without my people. I will do anything and everything I can for a better day. Love.”

These are the words of Devonté Hynes in presenting this initiative, which is mainly aimed at raising awareness of the repeated harassment that minorities are forced to endure on a daily basis in a democratic country like the United States.

The Brain Dead / Blood Orange T-shirt is available online on the Brain Dead website while, if you want, you can support with a donation The Movement for Black Lives and The LGBTQ Freedom Fund.
