Born in 1991, Krista Schumacher is an American artist, originally from Mississippi, who has lived and worked for 3 years in La Jolla, a tourist resort in California, north of San Diego, where the coast alternates boundless beaches with cliffs that plunge directly into the ocean.
It is precisely the landscape offered by this area, with the colors of sunset and sunrise that transform the landscape and the thousand shades of water, that inspired Krista Schumacher who began to reproduce what she saw on her paintings.
However, unlike many of her colleagues, Krista completely abandoned the use of the brush to devote herself to the art of the spatula.
This technique allows her to play with color, playing with three-dimensionality: when she paints the ocean, each spatula covers the previous one, creating a thickness that is surprisingly realistically reminiscent of the waves.
