Yesterday’s news is that the Maison Valentino will not be on show as usual at Paris Fashion Week but will enter the calendar of the next Milan Fashion Week (22-28 September) dedicated to ready-to-wear, with a fashion show. he will be on stage on September 27th which will present the Spring/Summer 2021 collections for both men and women.
“This unprecedented moment, due to the Covid-19 pandemic – explains a press note sent by the Maison – has led the company to reconsider where to present the new Valentino collection, thus choosing to show this season in Milan instead of Paris.”
For the occasion, we have chosen to put together the 5 most beautiful shows of Valentino curated by the duo Maria Grazia Chiuri/Pierpaolo Piccioli, who have been vice-creative directors of the Italian fashion house from 2008 to 2016 giving life to a series of incredible shows that have become part of the history of fashion.
Fall/Winter 2011 Haute Couture
Held in one of the favorite locations of Chiuri and Piccioli, the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris, the show is regal and extremely elegant despite the simplicity of the clothes proposed. A perfect synthesis of the Valentino style.
Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture
Immersed in the green of ivy tendrils in a sort of lush and splendid garden of Eden, the collection is inspired by the functionality and style of ancient Greece with many dresses adorned with beads, a classic of the couple Chiuri/Piccioli.
Fall/Winter 2015 Ready-to-Wear
What looked like an austere, almost gloomy show, also thanks to the very particular lighting, has become one of the most incredible moments in the history of the catwalks: at the end of the show Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, in the role of Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald, respectively, are presented as a surprise to announce the release of “Zoolander 2”.
One of the most successful fashion marketing operations of all time.
The collection presented, also thanks to this event, became very popular not only on the catwalk but also in the street scene.
Fall/Winter 2015 Haute Couture
Entitled “Mirabilia Romae” (Marvels of Rome), the show took place in the wonderful Piazza Mignanelli in Rome where the artist Pietro Ruffo conceived and created the set design as a contemporary interpretation of the Roman Forum.
Fall/Winter 2016 Haute Couture
This was the last parade realized together by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, a closing worthy of their prolific and exciting collaboration. Elizabethan-inspired dresses, pants paired with riding boots, a series of accessories reminiscent of 16th century England and “Romeo and Juliet” by Sergej Sergeevič Prokof’ev as a soundtrack, made this show unforgettable.
