Cosmin Bumbuţ is a Romanian photographer from Baia Mare, born in 1968, mainly known for his work in the fashion industry and his reportages. Camera intimă project is intense and talks about a very sensitive issue: after the entry of Romania into the European Union and reform of the prison system, it was determined that the married detainees had been granted only a visit of spouse every three months, lasting only two hours.
The prisons immortalized in the work of Bumbut are many, like that of Targu Mures, Baia Mare, Iasi, Aiud, Gherla, the women’s prison in Târgşor and others. The details present in the rooms speak indirectly of the owners; there are images of rooms with colored sheets, photographs, televisions, condoms, plants and much more. In the photos, there are no people, but the absence and emptiness generate a kind of underlying tension.
