The independent record label Bomba Dischi, in collaboration with Gucci, the Italian fashion house headed by Alessandro Michele, with the curatorship of Clara Tosi Pamphili and Giuseppe Garrera have created the project Canzonette, on the occasion of the centenary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s birth.

Canzonette is a vinyl work of art in which a group of musiciansə chose and reinterpreted a selection of songs related to the work of one of the most influential Italian intellectuals of the last century, Pier Paolo Pasolini precisely. The link between Pasolini and music is well known, this passion in fact also made him the author of songs that later entered by right into the collective imagination.
The vinyl work of art consists of 5 tracks: Ariete interprets “Valzer della toppa”, originally sung by both Laura Betti and Gabriella Ferri; Giorgio Poi gives his own version of Domenico Modugno’s “Che cosa sono le nuvole”, “Violino tzigano”, quoted in Mamma Roma, chosen by CLAVDIO; “Cancello tra le rose” by Reuccio Claudio Villa in Franco126‘s version; and “Amara Terra Mia”, also by Modugno in this case distorted by Pop X and Giacomo Laser.

The vinyl’s artwork consists of original artwork by illustrator Martoz, who created them inspired by a series of photographs starring Pier Paolo Pasolini taken on Monte dei Cocci in Rome.
The limited edition vinyl artwork Canzonette, which is not commercially available, will be displayed as part of the exhibition “Pier Paolo Pasolini. Everything is Holy. The Poetic Body”, which opens its doors today, Oct. 19, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and will end Feb. 26, 2023.
The songs contained in Canzonette will be able to be heard by sounding out the exhibition itinerary.
