Contrast and tradition are the keywords that AG Studio followed to create Casa Hoyos, a boutique hotel in the center of the city of San Miguel De Allende. 

Designed on the ruins of an old colonial manor house, today the hotel owned by the Hoyos family consists of 16 suites and offers a unique stay in the Mexican city. The real focal point of Casa Hoyos, however, are the common areas such as the atrium and the central courtyard where a sharp and strong contrast has been created between the perforated concrete walls and the colorful tiles that cover the interior parts of the arches, openings, and perimeter walls. 

The use of black coloured tiles is reminiscent of the scales of a snake, the same snake on the coat of arms of the Hoyos family, while the parts covered with yellow tiles were compared by Andres Gutierrez, founder of AG Studio, to cobs. 

Finally, so as not to forget the centuries-old history of the structure, the bare concrete has been left exposed and recalls the modernist style, very much in vogue in Mexico in the first half of the last century. 

Casa Hoyos perfectly reflects the history of the city that hosts it and creates an indissoluble bond with the culture, colors, and tradition of San Miguel De Allende.
