“Frustrated by the limitations of the current emoji set, we have created a suite of emojis inspired by the unique experiences we live as designers and the people who live to 2020”. The American designer Jessica Walsh has created hundreds of new emoji that try to recreate in an ironic way the current situation we are all experiencing.
Designed to help us express ourselves, the emojis are compatible with Slack, Instagram Stories, iMessage and WhatsApp and will be available from today, Thursday, April 23rd.
“Now more than ever, we need more ways to express ourselves in isolation, because communication is all digital.
We are all going through unique and difficult moments, and this requires new emojis to communicate these shared struggles. Hopefully, these can bring some joy or comic relief to people’s day. Or simply make it a little easier to communicate how sick people feel.”
The studio captains from the American designer started to create the emojis for fun, to make their internal communication more pleasant. At some point, however, we realized that other people would appreciate our emojis, so they decided to give them away for free. The entire catalog can be downloaded from today through this site.
With the arrival of the COVID-19 that changed everyone’s life, the team started adding emojis to the existing set that fully described everyone’s life during the lockdown and especially the graphic designers.
