At the end of August, DIMORA inaugurated the exhibition Dove si disseta l’anima mia, a solo show dedicated to the artist Chris Rocchegiani, curated by Erica Massaccesi and accompanied by a text by Giacomo Pigliapoco. This new exhibition project stems from an intense dialogue between the artist and the curator, marking the beginning of a new phase for the DIMORA space, located in a historic apartment in the heart of Jesi. The title of the exhibition, Dove si disseta l’anima mia, evokes an intimate and introspective vision of the concept of illusion and the relationship between reality and imagination, while also paying homage to a private writing by the curator’s grandmother, as noted in the curatorial text:
«My grandmother had a diary. From time to time, amidst her romantic stories about the many people she had met in her life and recalled with nostalgia, she mentioned that she was constantly writing poems dedicated to her grandchildren. […] Today, she is no longer with us, and we have found those diaries. On one page it reads: ‘I have a wandering heart, roaming around the world, in that world of fantasy where my soul is quenched’.»
The exhibition Dove si disseta l’anima mia presents a selection of recent works by Chris Rocchegiani, created over the past year, alongside earlier paintings that marked key moments in her artistic research. The artist’s works explore the physical limits of the human experience, offering a heterogeneous pictorial language that blends figurative elements with strong gestures and materiality, giving life to a fantastical and supersensory universe.
Erica Massaccesi describes Rocchegiani’s creative process as follows: «We talked and shared thoughts, anecdotes, stories. And in her material brushstrokes, in her ambiguous and animalistic forms, I partially rediscovered that fantastic world that has nourished my imagination since I was a child. […] It is in painting that Chris’ soul is quenched, despite the pain, despite the fears, despite the brutality of life, it is there that she takes refuge.»
