Cinema and art merge in Gedo’s artworks

Often when we hear about cult films that have made cinema history, the films are defined as true works of art, an image that can only make us think of masterpieces such as Leonardo’s The Last Supper or Salvator Mundi.
In their own way, and for contemporary culture, characters such as Tony Montana, Mia Wallace or Leon are so iconic that they have become figures to be idolized, to be followed and imitated in their attitudes, the way they speak or dress.
A subtle thread that links classical painting and cinema, but which becomes very evident in Gedo‘s work.

Gedo, known on social networks as gedogfx, is a digital artist who likes to mix different painting styles, from Leonardo’s classicism to Van Gogh’s impressionism, with scenes and characters from cult films, creating surreal images that fire our imagination.

Yes, a few well-calibrated combinations open up unexplored avenues, such as Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phinix sitting in the underground both dressed as the Joker or a last supper with Tommy Shelby, Pablo Escobar, Walter White, Tony Soprano, Don Vito Corlene and many others.

Gedo’s imagination does not end there. In a very successful attempt to combine the sacred and the profane, the artist has also created a series of graphics in which characters, from the very cold Miranda Prisley to the rambunctious Jeffrey Lebowsky, are represented as saints ready to give us their blessing.

We’ve selected just a few of his works, but to find out more follow him on Instagram.
