“Landscape of Shadow”, that’s the title of COMME des GARÇONS women’s collection for this Fall/Winter 2021. An explosion of creativity and avant-garde from Rei Kawakubo and his team.
COMME des GARÇONS has always stood out for its originality, creative power and independence, thanks to the genius of its founder and creative director.
This collection is the result of a reasoning as well as a need to find a minimum of serenity in the midst of the chaos of the fruition of information that characterizes our contemporaneity.
“Amidst the incessant overflowing of miscellaneous things, the deluge of color, the flooding of sound and the inundation of information. … I needed to take one breath in the monochrome serenity”.
The monochromatic serenity Kawakubo talks about is expressed in the collection through black and white, the Japanese designer’s favorites.
On the notes of White Stains, the models walked the runway wearing incredible headpieces created by Kawakubo and Ibrahim Kamara, designer and Editor in Chief of Dazed who had never tried his hand at headpiece design.
Oversized tulle dresses that wrap around and deform the silhouette, occasionally paired with huge blazers or polka-dot printed leggings.
Artificial smoke invaded the runway but we could notice a series of sneakers in collaboration with Salomon e Nike: Salomon x CDG XA-ALPINE, trail running sneakers revised in a slip-on key and the Salomon x CDG CROSS, a customization of the Crosses with a zig-zag knit pattern.
As for Nike, we noticed the new NIKE x CDG HO21 Premier, a football boot but with heel.
Below are all the looks from COMME des GARÇONS’ Fall/Winter 2021 women’s collection.
