There is not much we can do about it, we live in confusing times and for the past year every effort to return to our normal life seems to confuse us even more. We fail to recognise reality, we risk not experiencing social interactions as we once did, and everything just brings us back to a state of disarray and disorientation.
As we experience these emotions and can no longer distinguish between the state of emergency and normality, Burger King has decided to launch “Confusing Times”, a brilliant commercial about the Impossible Whopper – a plant-based sandwich with a beef flavour – which like so many other things these days only confuses us more.
Made by David Madrid – the Spanish arm of the great creative agency David Ogilvy – “Confusing Times” presents us with some real situations and stages them in a dramatic and catastrophic atmosphere.
Dustin buys a book on climate change but realises that it is a product shipped by plane and wrapped in an excessive amount of plastic. Simon and Sarah have just had a baby and people keep asking them when the next one is due. Karen hates people who judge, but she feels part of the problem and finally, Joe is constantly wondering whether he is working from home or living at work now. In these absurd scenarios, the Impossible Whopper is added to make everything even more uncertain.
On the other hand, we are living in confusing times and should not ask ourselves too many questions.
