Dickies is a classic American story from the beginning of the century. A story that begins in an “unofficial” way in 1918 in Fort Worth, Texas, when C. N. Williamson and E. E. “Colonel” Dickie founded, together with some friends, the Overall Company, a company that produced denim overalls for farmers and ranchers in the southwestern United States.

However, it was in 1922 that it all officially began: C. Don Williamson, C.N.’s cousin, took over 100% of the company and renamed it the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company, specializing in the production of work clothes.

Williamson-Dickie’s growth was immediate and steady in the early years, but was slowed by the Great Depression of 1929, which affected all sectors of the American economy.
During World War II, the company retooled its production to mass supply the United States military.

Once the war ended, Williamson-Dickie returned to its original production of work clothes and C. Don Williamson began a strategy of geographic expansion by opening a series of new manufacturing plants, warehouses and stores throughout the United States. By the late 1950s, the company was strong and solid and decided to open up to the European and Middle Eastern markets as well.

From that moment on, Dickies became a major international company specializing in workwear at all levels, constantly evolving and becoming the icon – thanks also to the rise of workwear in the streetwear world – that we all know today, with a legacy and cultural legacy that is still very powerful.

To celebrate its first 100 years, Dickies has released a special collection that delves into the depths of the brand’s archives and recalls all of its heritage.
Overall, work shirts, tees, short-sleeved shirts, work pants and classic khaki pants go to make up a selection of items that hymn the history and tradition of the brand, which pays homage to 100s of hard work.
Dickies also released a video – which you can watch below – as part of the Made in Dickies campaign, showing the world the work and untold stories of artists, workers, farmers, plumbers, skateboarders, welders, etc. All of these quiet heros have carried on Dickies’ legacy through their simple, yet extraordinary lives and daily work.
