Kim Jones presents the Dior Men’s Resort 2022 collection

The artistic director of Dior‘s men’s line Kim Jones, is now in his third year and after collaborating with artists from the contemporary scene such as KAWS, Daniel Arsham, Amoako Boafo, and Kenny Scharf, the British designer has chosen a different path for the Resort 2022 collection.

Jones dug into the archives of the French fashion house looking for inspiration from the 1960s archetypes of Marc Bohan, the famous French designer who worked for 30 years, first as a simple designer and then as creative director, within the company.

Bohan’s famous Dior Oblique logo is declined throughout the collection but with a lighter, subtler aesthetic. The heart-shaped “CD” – always by the former creative director of the maison – is found on jackets and shirts and the vintage writing “Christian Dior Atelier” enriches varsity jackets and baseball shirts.

Obviously, the customer will recognize and be comfortable in the Dior shapes, but we wanted to play with proportions a bit and look at a way of making tailoring feel less formal, but still really relevant”, Jones said to WWD.

Baggy pants form, along with jackets, the new Resort 2022 suits, while nylon anoraks are transformed into bags.
Casual tailoring dominates the collection and an extremely sophisticated color palette completes Jones’ work and seems to be almost a chromatic manifesto of these three years.

“The color palette was really a compilation of all our favorite colors we used over the last three years — mixing that together and bringing it forward so that we could then move into the next step of what we do at Dior. I think it’s good to reinvent what you do.
