We rarely stop to think about how many different surfaces we walk on every day. A contemporary walker might cross a dozen of them in just the first hour of the day alone, from the parquet of their own apartment to the marble slabs of a building entrance, from the asphalt of the street to the rubber of a subway platform, not to mention cobblestones, public parks and the occasional puddle. Strictly speaking, every surface would call for a different shoe to handle it at its best, but that’s simply not realistic. What you actually need, more than a closet full of different shoes, is one right shoe, able to adapt to any situation. 

This is where KEEN comes in, the American brand that since 2003 has built its identity on the hybridization between outdoor performance and everyday life, presenting the Flux Pack, a limited-edition capsule that reinterprets the Jasper family in an urban key. We had already caught a glimpse of that spirit with the Nocturnal Pack, when KEEN dressed its trail soul in black leather.

The Flux Pack carries that conversation forward with five different silhouettes, distinct from one another but belonging to the same imaginary. The Jasper HW, the original approach shoe of the family, is made from full-grain leather with a scuff-off finish and seems entirely unbothered by the passing of time. 

The special editions SE1 and SE2 TXT explore two different paths within the same concept, the first works an extremely soft, ethically sourced full-grain Nappa leather, internally lined with a glove-like leather for comfort you feel from the very first step; the second bets everything on technical fabric, a dense, abrasion-resistant weave, with double tongue and reflective laces designed for those who keep moving even as the light starts to fade. Both are built for a wardrobe that’s just as much menswear as womenswear, with no difference in silhouette between the two. 

Closing out the collection are the Jasper Zionic, the most hybrid point of the entire pack, half urban sneaker, half fast & light hiking shoe, with a sole designed to absorb the blows of asphalt with the same ease it would face a dirt trail. The HW version plays with a full-grain leather of a more rugged character, also destined to develop that lived-in patina KEEN is known for, while the SE1 lightens things up with a softer, easier Nappa leather, for those looking for the same structure but with a more urban soul.

KEEN reminds us that what matters is choosing the right shoe, it’s the different roads that will adapt to wherever our lives take us.
