The Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto returns to amaze with his latest installation GaiaMotherTree.

At the center of the Zurich, station stands a huge tree that reaches the ceiling. It was entirely handcrafted with the help of the Huni Kuin, an indigenous population of the Amazon rainforest, weaving crochet cotton ribbons. The aesthetics of this population, culture, tradition and the relationship with nature have always been at the base of Neto’s art.

The final result is a majestic transparent figure of a tree that occupies almost the entire hall of the station, where you can rest, sit and wait for your train. Furthermore, from this work, the smell comes out involved, thanks to the drop-shaped elements hanging from the ceiling that smell of spices.

The large sculpture, which will occupy the station until July 29, has been presented by the Foundation Beyeler, which in this period will host other Neto’s works.
