GRINN — Smile Glassware Collection is a design collection by MOOQUE and Elmtoli. Each piece is hand-blown glass: a technique that turns water, temperature, and time into true design tools. At first glance, every object looks minimal—balanced proportions, clean lines, absolute transparency. Nothing suggests it’s hiding a second layer of meaning. But it’s the base of these objects that leaves a mark.

Part of the Isola Design Platform, the project truly exists only when it’s used. Pour a cold drink, let the glass sit for a few minutes, then lift it. In that exact moment, the table reveals an unexpected presence: a curve of condensation taking the shape of a smile. A temporary sign, bound to disappear, yet capable of redefining the relationship we have with the object itself.

There’s no decorative intervention, no graphic etched into the glass. The smile is generated solely by the natural behavior of water. It’s a physical consequence, not a visual trick. The design doesn’t draw the image: it builds the conditions for it to emerge.

Each piece is made individually using traditional glassblowing techniques. Slight variations in thickness, barely perceptible differences in shape and transparency are traces of the artisan’s gesture, not flaws. This very uniqueness makes each smile different, shaped by the environment, humidity, the temperature of the liquid, and the waiting time.

The collection includes five pieces: Normal Glass, Highball Glass, Mug Glass, Beer Mug, and Carafe—five different formats that amplify the experiment and invite you to repeat it. Change the conditions, and the trace changes too. GRINN activates a small domestic experience made of waiting, observation, and surprise.
