Japanese toy company Bandai, has revealed its upcoming collaboration that brings together two worlds that are seemingly far apart but are actually much closer than we can imagine.
The Japanese toy maker has created two models of the Gundam, the so-called Gunpla – in 1/144 scale and 15 cm in height – in collaboration with Nike SB in perfect symbiosis with the colorways of the two models of Nike SB Dunk High that will be released on September 27 via SNKRS App, on the same day as the models of one of the most famous and beloved mecha of all time.

Gundam is a 1979 multimedia franchise and media mix created by writer, director and mecha anime creator Yoshiyuki Tomino along with Tokyo-based animation studio Sunrise. The story featuring the Gundam is set in the near future where humanity has begun to colonize space, where the focus of the narrative is anthropomorphic combat robots but with human pilots, called mobile suites.
The entire franchise began with the anime TV series Mobile Suit Gundam that in the first half of the ’80s enjoyed unprecedented success despite a muted start.
The Gundam franchise in Japanese pop culture has an absolute relevance, just think of the statue of the Gundam Unicorn on the island of Obaida, in the bay of Tokyo inside the Diver City shopping mall, almost 20 meters high built entirely of metal, which has become a symbol of Obaida and a tourist destination for all fans and not only. Not to mention the life-size reproduction of the Gundam RX-78 built in the port of Yokohama 18 meters high and weighing 25 tons that has the ability to move as you can see in the video below.
The two models take the features of the model Gundam Unicorn (Destroy Mode) and Gundam Unicorn 02 Banshee (Destroy Mode) in special edition HG (High Grade) also characterized by co-branding.
Both of Bandai’s Gundams in collaboration with Nike SB, which you can see below, will be released in conjunction with the Dunk High models on September 27 at a price of around €20.
