Ichijo Hikaru is a Japanese illustrator who is becoming more and more successful every day on Instagram, where her illustrations – but also her ceramics – are appreciated by almost 30,000 people.
The protagonists of her works are young women: sporty, strong and dynamic girls who, at the same time, are not afraid to show their weaknesses. Each of Ichijo Hikaru’s drawings is dedicated to a woman, but in addition to female solidarity, there is something else that fascinates the illustrator and that we see in almost all her creations, trainers.
Young girls dressed casually or in sportswear wear the latest models on the market or iconic silhouettes that have made trainer history.
The contemporary nature of his subjects creates a strong contrast with the style adopted by the artist. Ichijo Hikaru only draws digitally, but nevertheless uses a style that seems reminiscent of old prints in vintage magazines. The colours are desaturated and the technique used replicates the effect of ink on rough paper, which does not catch evenly on the whole surface.
We have selected just a few of her illustrations, but to discover all of Ichijo Hikaru’s work and her extra-illustration projects follow her on Instagram.
