Quintessenz is an artistic duo from Hannover and Berlin who recently created a large-scale installation for the Paxos Contemporary Art Project on the island of Paxos in the Adriatic Sea. The artistic roots of Thomas Granseuer and Tomislav Topic, the two components of Quintessenz, range from street art to installation and research in the field of digital images: everything is enriched by aesthetic elements found on the spot.
In their recent installation Flickering Lights, which was created at the Berlin Fashion Week in January 2018, in Pardis Perdus installed in Les Baux-de-Provence, in 2017 and in their last piece in Paxos, the artists make use of the of colored or spray-painted fabrics, which feature a chromatic scale. Intent of the duo is to challenge the viewer’s visual perception of the work and its relationship with the analogue and digital world.
