The images of Los Angeles-based photographer James Acai contain an implied beauty that manifests itself delicately in front of the viewer’s gaze. The artist’s imagination is a tribute to the beauty of the bodies of color that he compares to scenes of everyday life and nature that can refer to a dimension of introspective-meditative.
James Acai is originally from Nigeria and explains:
“Life was so simple there, and that fed my curiosity and creativity. As a child, I often went on excursions on the lake with my brothers and sisters and got lost in the beauty of the nature that surrounded us; as I grew older, I began to fall in love with life and the simplicity that it presented and this motivated me to take a camera to capture the essence of the moments that brought me so much joy”.
The sequence of images alternates between objects, nature, and self-portraits that explore the complexity of the human being. The narrative flow of each scene connects the sea to the sky, the body to the mental ray, creating a continuum and a whole with what is outside and inside us.
